CALL THEM HIGHER PARENTING...

Start Speaking Identity Over Your Kids

I never wanted to be a mom who yelled. I think this happens because we react instead of lead ourself. Reaction creates power struggles. Leadership creates growth. God showed me something that changed my parenting:

I was correcting behavior… but I wasn’t calling out identity. & identity drives behavior.

So, I am working on a shift. I stopped labeling my children by their worst moments and started calling them up into who God created them to be. Don’t just correct behavior. Interpret it through Scripture. Don’t just react emotionally. Respond the way God responds. When we use a biblical perspective with our kids, we are not just managing moments — we are forming disciples.

That means:

  • We speak identity over accusation.
  • We correct with truth, not shame.
  • We use Scripture as the standard — not our mood.
  • We point them to who God says they are.
  • We frame mistakes as training, not failure.

CALL THEM HIGHER PARENTING

Why This Matters: Proverbs 18:21 says: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Your words don’t just correct behavior. They shape identity.

When we say:

  • “You are so rude.”
  • “You’re being mean.”
  • “You never listen.”
  • “Why are you like this?”

They don’t just hear correction. They hear definition. Children internalize what we repeatedly say. So instead of speaking frustration, I started speaking identity — while still holding firm boundaries.
  • It’s not permissive.
  • It’s not passive.
  • It’s not soft.

It is calm authority rooted in Scripture. Here’s how it plays out in real life.

1. Rudeness

Instead of: “You are being so rude.”
Replace it with: “You are a child of God who speaks respectfully. Please try that again.”

Ephesians 4:29 says: “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up.”

I’m not excusing the behavior. I’m reminding them who they are.

2. Meanness

Instead of: “You are so mean.”
Replace it with: “God gave you a mouth to speak words that lift people up and speak kindly. Let’s try that again.”

Colossians 4:6: “Let your speech always be gracious.”

Mean is not their identity. Kindness is.

3. Mistakes

Instead of: “You’re doing it wrong.”
Replace it with: “You are creative — let’s look at your idea together.”

Proverbs 9:9: “Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still.”

Correction without shame builds confidence. Shame shuts growth down.

4. Disobedience

Instead of: “You are being so disobedient.”
Replace it with: “God made you a leader, and leaders learn to follow Him first. How can you lead well right now?”

Luke 16:10: “Whoever is faithful in little will be faithful in much.”

Leadership begins with obedience.

5. Selfishness

Instead of: “You were created to share.”
Replace it with: “How can you have a giving heart right now?”

2 Corinthians 9:7: “God loves a cheerful giver.”

Generosity is cultivated. It isn’t forced.

6. Lying

Instead of: “You are a liar.”
Replace it with: “You are a truth speaker. Please tell me the truth.”

Proverbs 12:22: “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy.”

When you label a child, they will either live rejecting or comparing themselves to it . But when you call out who they are becoming in God, they rise to it!

What Can Change In Your Home

When you choose to call your children higher, you shift things in your home.

The power struggles decreased, My voice stayed calm, I corrected with authority, not emotion, Scripture became the standard, My kids began taking ownership, Obedience became habit, not battle. You still need to discipline. There still need to be consequences. Standards will  not lower. But your tone changes everything, the language you use, can shift the entire outcome.

Grace without accountability creates entitlement.
Accountability without grace creates fear.
God models both truth and love.

Romans 2:4: “It is the kindness of God that leads to repentance.”

Kindness is not weakness. It is controlled strength & controlled strength is leadership.

(If like you have ever
raised your voice
like me...)

You are not failing. You may be overwhelmed. Triggered. Exhausted. Carrying too much.

But you can shift.

Pause. Lower your voice. Speak identity. Require ownership. Point to Scripture. Instead of reacting to behavior, call out who they are.

Call them higher.

This Is About Legacy

We are not just raising compliant children.

We are raising:

  • Future husbands and wives
  • Future leaders
  • Future truth speakers
  • Future disciples
  • Future culture-shapers

The inner voice they carry into adulthood will sound a lot like your voice in their life as a child.

Make it strong.
Make it biblical.
Make it life-giving.

Call them higher…

Why Courage Matters

Leadership

LIVE WITH COURAGE.

This last month was very difficult for many of us. We wanted to honor Charlie, by posting about one of his greatest traits – COURAGE.

We live in a time when fear, silence, and neutrality are often the defaults. But faith, true and active faith… calls us out of the shadows for these reasons:

  • Because truth matters.
  • Because courage inspires others.
  • Because eternity is real.

We hope that this season reminds you of what matters most – and to live a life that most matters… For God.

What Charlie Kirk Taught Us Through His Faith

Charlie Kirk (in his own words)  wanted to be remembered – not primarily for his achievements or his activism, but for his faith.

Here are a few of his words and examples:

“I want to be remembered for courage for my faith.
That would be the most important thing;
most important thing is my faith.”
“I believe in the Bible, and I believe that Christ rose
from the dead on the third day. This is the foundation of
my faith and guides my actions.”
“Jesus defeated death so you can live.”

These quotes show several things:

  • He grounded his identity in Christ—not in what he did, what he achieved, or public opinion.
  • His faith was not just personal; it was public. He didn’t shy away from saying what he believed, even when it would draw criticism or backlash.
  • He accepted that following Jesus could cost him something—maybe safety, maybe popularity. But he still chose to stand up.

Why You Should Live Like Charlie:

  1. Your Life Should Witness Who God Is. When someone is willing to live out their belief in God everyday, it draws others in. It gives credibility that following God isn’t just a fallback or a convenience — it’s real.

  2. Authenticity Opens People’s Hearts. Living openly for God means choosing integrity over convenience. People see when someone just says they believe vs when their life is consistent with their beliefs.

  3. Courage Sets The Tone. When one person stands up, others think: maybe I can too. Boldness begets boldness.

  4. It Honors God’s Calling On Your Life. Scripture has many commands and examples urging believers to not be ashamed, to speak truth, to love well, even at cost. Bold faith isn’t pride; it’s obedience.

Here are practical steps—ways we can emulate that bold,
courageous faith:

What to DoWhy It MattersHow to Start
Make faith foundationalIf faith isn’t the bedrock, everything else shifts with the windDaily practices—reading Scripture, prayer, reflection—so that your values are shaped by God, not culture
Speak what you believe, gently but firmlyWords carry power; silence or compromise tends to spread faster than convictionShare your testimony; speak when injustice or untruth arises; join conversations instead of avoiding them
Accept the costBoldness almost always has risk—rejection, misunderstanding, even persecution. But that’s part of living fully for ChristPray for strength; remind yourself of eternal perspective; find community that supports you
Live for eternitySo many choices, dilemmas, fears are about what’s here now—but God calls us to live for what’s comingAlign your decisions with what matters long term—not just what brings comfort or applause

To be courageous and bold in your life does not mean to be loud for the sake of loudness. It’s means to be steadfast, courageous, and anchored in who God is in every season. Our main goal should be –  to live for a greater purpose, speak truth, and stand for God, even when it’s easier to be silent. Remember, what the Bible says, when your season is difficult or things feel impossible…

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
