WATER: You Can’t Live Without It.
Did you know that water accounts for around 60% of an adult’s overall body weight, making it essential for the human body to function efficiently. Water plays a huge role in our digestion, nutrient absorption, and regulating body temperature. When the body is not adequately hydrated, these functions are compromised, leading to a range of health complications, including constipation, kidney stones and urinary tract infections. Severe dehydration can also lead to more serious conditions, such as heat stroke and death.
People say that drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day is sufficient, but the amount of water can actually vary depending on an individual’s age and activity levels. It is actually said that women need about 2.7 liters (91 ounces) and men need about 3.7 liters (125 ounces) of total water per day from all beverages and food. The 64-ounce figure for water simplifies this to about 8 cups, though it’s important to note that it’s just a starting point.
